For today, I decided to make recipe for you lasagna which is an Italian dish, simple yet very tasty and can be taken anytime in the day. Pasta, meat sauce, cheese and in some instances vegetables is a thick baked dish that can be likened to lasagna. Being an traditional recipe dish this is a perfect comfort food that would cajole your taste buds into submission.

Basics:

  • Lasagna noodles
  • Raw materials; ground meat; beef, pork or any other
  • ground meat of the mixer’s choice.
  • Tomato sauce
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Cook the pasta: Preheat the oven to 375°F Then, follow the cooking instructions of the lasagna noodles to the letter.
  • Make the meat sauce: Cook the ground meat on a large pan and brown it properly. Then put in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Other ingredients and directions: Simmer until sauce thickens.
    Assemble: Pile the cooked pasta, the meat sauce, the ricotta cheese, the Parmesan cheese, mozzarella and then again the meat sauce on a baking dish. Layer as long as the supplies of the ingredients are available, and then layer again.
  • Bake: Place the lasagna on a foil and bake in a hot over. Reveal and cook for an added 10-15 minutes until the cheese starts to melt and is brownish in colour.

    Pre-cook the noodles: If you do not want your lasagna to be soft and mushy, it is wise to partly cook your pasta before you layer it in the dish.
  • Use a good-quality cheese: Is an Italian dish that consists of layers of pasta, cheese and a thick tomato based sauce normally made from crushed tomatoes. Make sure to use really good quality ricotta cheese, Parmesan, and mozzarella cheese /
  • Add vegetables: For your lasagna to be somewhat nutritious & tastier than usual, add spinach, mushroom or squashed zucchini to the meat mixture.
  • Let it rest: One should make sure that the lasagna is given a few minutes to cool down before serving to reduce chances of the lasagna being too soft when slicing. This will however help in the mingling of the flavors if the food is going to be prepared at some other time then compound time is necessary to enable the flavors to blend well.

Variations:

Vegetarian One: This will help in come up with variations with change on the part of the meat sauce with a vegetable type.

Spinach and ricotta: Mix spinach with the ricotta cheese creating a rich cheesy filling for the lasagna.

White : Serve with a white wine sauce for a less rich taste and for a perfectly incorporated color.
